Terms of Service

The terms that govern use of the TAO Academy Learning website and the general conditions for our tutoring and enrichment services.

Last updated: September 30, 2026

Key points for families

  • Forms and bookings are requests. Submitting a form or booking a consultation starts a conversation — it does not by itself create an enrolment or agreement.
  • Paid services require confirmed terms. Fees, schedules and package details are confirmed with you before a paid service agreement is completed.
  • 24-hour rescheduling rule. Sessions may be rescheduled without charge with at least 24 hours’ notice.
  • Supplementary education. We provide tutoring and enrichment support — not a school — and no particular academic result is guaranteed.
  • Your rights are protected. Nothing in these terms removes the consumer rights that law gives you.

About these Terms

These terms govern your use of the TAO Academy Learning website and explain the general conditions that apply to our tutoring and enrichment services.

Where a family purchases a service, the specific written enrolment or service agreement, fee confirmation or package terms provided for that service will govern it. If these terms and that written service agreement conflict, the more specific written service agreement controls, subject to applicable law.

Eligibility and parents

To use this website or enter a service agreement, you must be legally capable of entering into an agreement. A parent or legal guardian must submit forms, book consultations and enter agreements on behalf of a student under 18, and remains responsible for communication, payment and supervision appropriate to the student’s age.

Supplementary education

TAO Academy Learning provides supplementary tutoring and enrichment services. TAO Academy Learning is not a school, a diploma-granting institution, a medical provider or a professional diagnostic service. TAO Academy Learning does not currently grant Ontario Secondary School Diploma credits.

We do not guarantee grades, test scores, admission, credits or any particular academic result. Progress depends on many factors, including attendance, participation and individual circumstances. These terms do not limit our commitment to provide our services with reasonable care and skill.

Website forms and bookings

Contact, registration, consultation and careers forms on this website securely submit and store information as described in our Privacy Policy.

A form submission, a confirmation email, a Calendly booking or a free consultation is a request or a preliminary step. It does not by itself create an enrolment, an employment relationship, a tutoring contract or any obligation for TAO Academy Learning to accept the request. TAO Academy Learning may accept or decline requests, subject to applicable law and availability.

Accurate information

You agree to provide accurate information that you are authorized to provide, to keep your contact details current, and to avoid submitting unnecessary sensitive information through website forms. For details on the information we collect and how it is handled, see our Privacy Policy.

Fees and payment

Prices, applicable taxes, schedules, package details, payment timing and any applicable refund conditions will be disclosed to you before a paid service agreement is completed.

Payment must be completed before the first scheduled lesson or lesson package begins, unless TAO Academy Learning agrees otherwise in writing. Nothing in these terms limits any refund or cancellation rights you have under consumer-protection law.

Cancellation and rescheduling

Tutoring sessions may be rescheduled without charge when at least 24 hours’ notice is provided. Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, may be counted as used.

If TAO Academy Learning cancels a lesson, or a technical problem originating from TAO Academy Learning prevents a lesson from taking place, the lesson will be rescheduled or a credit provided. If a student experiences a brief technical interruption, reasonable lesson time may be added when the tutor’s schedule permits.

A separate written service agreement may set more specific cancellation and rescheduling terms, subject to applicable law.

Online lesson requirements

For online lessons, the family is responsible for providing a compatible device, a reliable internet connection and a suitable learning environment. The parent or guardian remains responsible for the student’s physical setting and supervision appropriate to the student’s age.

Neither side may record lessons without the prior consent of the other, in compliance with applicable law.

Respectful conduct and safety

Families, students and applicants are expected to communicate respectfully. The following are not permitted: harassment, discrimination, threats, impersonation, academic dishonesty such as cheating, unlawful activity, interference with the website’s security, and misuse of our forms. See our Parent and Student Safety page for more detail.

TAO Academy Learning may suspend or end access to the website or services for serious or repeated breaches of these rules, a safety risk or non-payment, using proportionate notice where reasonable. Nothing in this section removes mandatory consumer rights or any refund legally owed.

Intellectual property

The content of this website, the TAO Academy Learning branding, lesson materials and learning resources remain the property of TAO Academy Learning or its licensors.

Families receive a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use these materials for the enrolled student’s educational use. Copying, resale, public posting, redistribution, scraping or commercial use of these materials without TAO Academy Learning’s written permission is not permitted. This section does not restrict fair dealing or any other rights provided by law.

Third-party tools and links

This website uses services provided by third parties, including Supabase, Lovable, Mailgun, Calendly, Google Calendar and Google Meet. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices.

TAO Academy Learning is not responsible for third-party outages or content outside its control. Where a disruption affects a booked TAO Academy Learning lesson, we will use reasonable efforts to address it — for example, by rescheduling the lesson or providing a credit.

Learning resources

Resources marked Sample or Coming Soon are previews of planned formats. They do not promise a complete library or a release date.

Careers

Submitting a job application does not create an offer of employment or a guarantee of employment. Applicants agree to provide truthful information and confirm they have permission to share any references or documents they submit.

Disclaimers

Information on this website is general in nature and may change over time. It is not a substitute for a discussion of your child’s specific learning needs.

Where you purchase a service, TAO Academy Learning will provide it with the standard of care and skill required by applicable law. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TAO Academy Learning is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from use of the website or from events outside its reasonable control.

This does not exclude or limit liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited — including liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, fraud, breach of privacy obligations, personal injury caused by negligence, or statutory consumer rights.

For other claims arising from a paid service, and only where such a limit is enforceable, TAO Academy Learning’s total liability is limited to the amounts paid for the affected service during the three months before the event giving rise to the claim, or CAD $100 if no amount was paid. The law where you live may provide greater rights than these limits.

Indemnity

If a user causes losses to TAO Academy Learning through unlawful use of the website or services, intentional misconduct, infringement of another person’s rights or a material breach of these terms, that user may be responsible for the resulting losses, to the extent permitted by law. This does not require a parent or guardian to cover losses caused by TAO Academy Learning’s own negligence or wrongdoing.

Events outside reasonable control

Neither party is responsible for reasonable delays caused by events outside their reasonable control, such as power or internet outages, emergencies, illness, severe weather or platform failures. Where such an event affects a booked lesson, TAO Academy Learning will communicate with you and reschedule or provide a credit where appropriate.

Changes to these Terms

Material changes to these terms will be posted on this page with a new effective date and apply going forward. Terms for a paid service cannot be materially changed retroactively without agreement, except where the law permits.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and applicable Canadian law, while preserving any mandatory consumer rights provided in the province or territory where you live.

If you have a concern or dispute, please contact us first at info@taoacademylearning.ca — we are committed to resolving matters in good faith.

General

If a provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. Failing to enforce a provision on one occasion is not a waiver of it. TAO Academy Learning may assign its rights only as part of a legitimate business transfer, with obligations to families preserved. Headings are for convenience only.
